Your donation dollars are spent wisely

We fully realize that you make important choices in your contributions.

Arts Mid-Hudson is proud to be entrusted with distributing New York State’s arts funding across Dutchess, Orange, and Ulster Counties. This funding goes right back out into our community through the funding of local arts organizations and individual artist projects, such as Judy Thomas and her site responsive sculptural installation “MATRIX:RENEWAL” in Newburgh this past spring. Utilizing an empty building inside the city, Judy literally and figuratively opened the door to the neighborhood to drop by and work on a community art project. Children of all ages quickly took interest in making colorful balls from recycled plastic shopping bags and then returned to make more art with their families. This project featured prominently at the 2015 Newburgh Illuminated Festival and demonstrates one way Arts Mid-Hudson supports effective engagement with the community by introducing art making to entire families, some for the first time.

Arts Mid-Hudson has also worked to strengthen local community groups presenting the arts by sharing our expansive office space so that all-volunteer organizations can produce their plays, run an art class, and hold literary readings. Our store-front gallery space has been host to a broad spectrum of activities from regional artists, including exhibitions on comics, Shakespeare readings, and folk workshops that featured Japanese writing and the traditions surrounding kimonos.

We look forward to exhibits featuring plein aire painting to a fall exhibit with cartoonists of the Hudson River region – many of them that create work for the New Yorker magazine, and special events, such as the Dutchess Dragon Boat Races and Festival, as well as workshops that allow community members to experience the arts.

Your gift ensures that our work continues to foster the arts in our region.
