For the new exhibit The Art of Devastation: Medals and Posters of the Great War, Peter van Alfen will give the opening lecture “America Under Pressure: Identities, Loyalties and Medallic Art during the Great War” on January 27 at 5:30pm in Taylor Hall, room 102, at Vassar College. Van Alfen is the Margaret Thompson Curator of Ancient Greek Coins at the American Numismatic Society in New York and co-curator of The Art of Devastation. A reception will follow in the Art Center Atrium; all events are free and open to the public.
