Arts Council Membership not only gives you great benefits, but more importantly, when you become a Member of the Arts Council, you join with hundreds of other artists and art lovers who want their voices heard by our community leaders and want to be an active partner in building a diverse, robust, dynamic and accessible art-full community which benefits everyone.

Membership Message from the President

The arts are vital to the character of our communities in the Mid-Hudson Valley. They connect us to the region's rich heritage, they welcome cultural diversity, and they give us a glimpse at an exciting future. They are an essential part of that unique quality which makes this region a great place to live and a dynamic place do business.

The Dutchess County Arts Council is dedicated to strengthening the arts community and encouraging participation in all facets of creating and enjoying the arts.  In addition to running the Dutchess Arts Fund, a community-wide fundraising campaign, the Arts Council provides the following services to the arts community in Dutchess and Ulster County:

  • More than 8 different grant programs which will distribute over $380,000 in 2009 to arts organizations, community groups, schools and artists throughout Dutchess and Ulster
  • Communications programs including: ArtScene E-edition a weekly email with calendar information, promotions, grant information, and job opportunities; ArtScene Newsletter which contains timely arts information and a guide to artists and cultural organizations throughout the region; www.artsmidhudson.org a dynamic, information filled website; and Dutchess Arts News, a bi-weekly column in Poughkeepsie Journal's Enjoy Section.
  • Technical assistance and professional development programs for the arts community including seminars, tutorials, and various networking events where members of the arts community can learn valuable skills, share experiences, and build alliances
  • Advocacy and awareness campaigns which educate business leaders and elected officials about the importance of the arts to our life here in the Hudson River Valley and the critical challenges facing cultural development.

In order to provide these valuable services we need your support – we need you to become a member of the Arts Council. Not only will you receive great benefits, but more importantly, when you become a member of the Arts Council, you join with hundreds of other artists and art lovers who want their voices heard by our community leaders and want to be an active partner in building a diverse, robust, dynamic and accessible arts community which benefits everyone.

Thank you in advance for your support and your help in building an art-full community. I look forward to welcoming you to the Arts Council.

Sincerely,

Benjamin Krevolin
President
