+ Call for Visual Artists - 2025 Banned Books Trading Card Project

Attention all visual artists. We are looking for artists to create original works of art depicting reimagined book covers of banned or challenged books that will become a trading card in our banned books trading cards.

Application deadline is May 31st, but you will have until July 15th to submit the actual work.

There will be a corresponding exhibition during the month of September and an artists' reception on September 6th. All participating artists will receive a deck of trading cards.

+ Come vend at the Spring Garden Faire at Locust Grove Estate!

Sunday, April 27th 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM (Last ticket entry at 2:00 PM) We are seeking VENDORS to sell their goods on the grounds and in the gardens of our historic estate. The event is a rain or shine event (We will set up indoors, if necessary, at Locust Grove’s discretion.)

Locust Grove is excited to collaborate with Cornell Cooperative Extension Dutchess County for our first Spring Garden Faire! Guests will enjoy the springtime flowers and trees in our beautiful garden, learn tips and tricks on flower and vegetable gardening, beekeeping, and more! There will be a food truck, kids activities, and garden presentations.

Far & Wide National: Every Picture Tells a Story: a national open call exploring the relationship between art and storytelling. We invite artists to submit works that reflect the idea of storytelling, whether through abstract, emotional, or non-linear narratives. We encourage all forms of storytelling, whether linear or not. Stories don’t have to follow a conventional path—this exhibition is about how art evokes and conveys a narrative. Submissions are welcome in any medium—painting, photography, sculpture, and mixed media. We especially encourage works that incorporate sculpture or mixed media elements, as they offer unique ways to tell stories beyond the two-dimensional.

+ Call for Entries - Dutchess County Fairgrounds Mural Project

n partnership with Dutchess County Fairgrounds, Destination Dutchess (previously Dutchess Tourism), and Arts Mid-Hudson, artists are welcome to submit their vision for a commissioned mural at the Dutchess County Fairgrounds in 2025.

The Dutchess County Fairgrounds Mural Project asks artists, “How does agriculture unite us?” The successful project at the Dutchess County Fairgrounds would be rooted in the traditions of Dutchess County, highlighting agritourism experiences from family farms, local orchards, wineries, breweries, domestic and fine arts, and the natural beauty of our horticulture. The successful proposed mural will highlight the experiences visitors enjoy at the Dutchess County Fairgrounds including festivals, flower shows, animal interactions, u-pick, and farm stand shopping. Artists may submit an independent or collaborative proposal.

Presented by StretchMetal, Drone Sleepver is a dusk-to-dawn ambient music sleep concert happening Oct 25–26 at Assembly in Kingston, NY. Longform ambient/drone performers, dance artists (techno, ballroom, etc.), and visual projectionists are all encouraged to apply. Selected artists are paid ($300 music / $600 visuals).. All sets are recorded and released on StretchMetal Records archival label.

BAU Gallery invites artists to apply to our annual Juried show with work that relates to visual interpretations of: ‘Grit’

BAU is a fine art gallery and project space. BAU is a platform for artists to experiment, grow, exhibit, and market their work, encourage collaborative curatorial projects, host invitationals, and build a vital link between the activities at BAU and the community.

Submission guidelines:

Media: All Restrictions: Size not to exceed 36 inches in any direction; Value not to exceed $10,000. Jury Fee: $40 for 3 works of art Delivery: Work must be delivered by artist or proxy - no shipping will be accepted. Display: Accepted work must be ready to be hung at the time of exhibition. The gallery has the authority to turn away any work that is not ready to be hung, that differs from the original accepted work, or is not suitable for gallery installation.

About the Juror for ‘Grit’:

Jess Wilcox is an independent curator based in New York City and the Hudson Valley, focusing on sculpture, ecocritical and public art. She collaborates with the River Valley Arts Collective. From 2016 to 2022, she was Curator and Director of Exhibitions at Socrates Sculpture Park. There she curated several group and solo exhibitions. She worked at the Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art at the Brooklyn Museum where she organized public programs and projects. There she also co-curated Agitprop!, a group exhibition with over sixty artists that evolved over time and invited artists as co-curators. She has held positions at MoMA, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Performa, Abrons Art Center, and SculptureCenter. She has a BA from Barnard College and a Master’s degree from Bard’s Center for Curatorial Studies.

The Cunneen-Hackett Arts Center has begun accepting artists to exhibit with us in 2026. We have three beautiful galleries to fill, and this is a wonderful opportunity for artists to show their work in either solo or group exhibitions. The Artists in our galleries are promoted via our press releases, our website, our newsletters, and through our printed brochures. Please be aware that we are able to exhibit wall-hung art only. + Call for Artists & Artisans: Join Us for “Autumn Artistry” at the Cunneen-Hackett Arts Center!

The Cunneen-Hackett Arts Center invites you to participate in Autumn Artistry, a vibrant indoor/outdoor arts festival celebrating the creativity of our community. This exciting event will take place Sunday, September 14, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM, rain or shine, coinciding with Poughkeepsie Open Studios weekend.

Festival highlights include: A showcase of local artists and craftspeople Live music performances Delicious food vendors Fun activities for children

Artists and craftspeople are encouraged to display and sell their work. Outdoor spaces (10 ft.) are available for $45, and indoor spaces (8 ft.) for $65. Access to electricity is available for indoor participants only. Participants must bring their own display materials and canopies.

The Cunneen-Hackett Arts Center is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the arts in the Hudson Valley. Our two historic Victorian-style buildings at 9 & 12 Vassar Street, Poughkeepsie, house a theater, a dance studio, three gallery spaces, private studios, and more.
