+ Summer Internship Opportunity - Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild

2024 SUMMER ARTISTS-IN-RESIDENCE PROGRAM ASSISTANT

Byrdcliffe is seeking talented individuals for its Summer Internship Program. Byrdcliffe Arts Colony Interns gain hands-on experience in the arts, working closely with Byrdcliffe’s staff on day-to-day operations of our historic arts colony and international artists-in-residence program. Interns receive an internship stipend, studio space, and live at Byrdcliffe’s 250-acre mountainside campus alongside an international cadre of artists, writers, and composers.

2024 Summer Internship Dates:

I. May 20 – July 26 (Communal Sessions 1 & 2) II. July 29 – October 4 (Communal Sessions 3 & 4)

Commitment: 20 hours per week. Compensation: Room, Studio Space, and $250/stipend.


Position Description: Program Assistants work closely with the Artists-in-Residence Operations Manager to manage the smooth flow of the artists-in-residence program and related arts colony events. PA’s help prepare rooms and studios for incoming artists, coordinate workshares, open studios and other AIR-related activities, and ensure that each artist has access to the resources needed for their individual projects. PA’s may help with marketing and AIR social media pages as well as assist in the preparation of related events, tours, talks, and more.

Hours: 4 days, 20 hours weekly. The weekly schedule may be adjusted to accommodate special events, such as Open Studios, Field Trips, etc.

Compensation: Program Assistants are considered ambassadors of Byrdcliffe, and are compensated with a private room, private studio, and a $225 stipend during their residency, paid upon arrival. PAs are also considered participants in the artist residency program and are invited to participate in all activities and programs of interest.

Qualifications: Current students and recent graduates of programs in art, design, music, literature, art history, arts management, curatorial studies, and other related fields are invited to apply. Successful applicants will show enthusiasm, a positive attitude, and the ability to thrive in a communal living environment.

We are looking for students to:

Use existing source materials to compile a digital Catalogue Raisonne of Emile Brunel’s photographic works Identify and document the photographers he taught and inspired as students at the NY Institute of Photography Archive digital images and create an online searchable database of Brunel’s photographs and photographs of the sculptures Create an annotated map with historical photographs documenting Brunel Park and Le Chalet Indien Assist with creating educational programming and develop content for a variety of tours Design original signage for the garden plants and sculptures Design a guide to the Indigenously significant plants at Brunel Park using source material Serve as greeters and docents on weekends Help us during special events Help produce content for our social media platforms and website Work with us in the garden, maintaining the planting beds and helping with the installation of new plantings Work with us to build an information kiosk

+ Call for Artists: $3,500 and $1,000 Grants - The Hopper Prize

The Hopper Prize is now accepting entries for our Spring 2024 artist grants.

We are offering grants in the amount of $3,500 (2 available) and $1,000 (4 available) to artists & photographers worldwide working in all media. In total, 6 artists will receive unrestricted cash grants totaling $11,000.

Our open call provides you with a direct path to get your work in front of these forward thinking exhibition makers. In addition to grants, 30 artists will be selected for a shortlist. Additional exposure is available via our online Journal as well as our Instagram feed, currently reaching an audience over 115k.

Education Internship The Katonah Museum of Art seeks a Museum Education Intern for September 2018 – June 2019 to be part of the KMA Education team to assist with, learn from, develop, and facilitate programing geared toward family and youth bilingual audiences. The internship provides a valuable opportunity to partner with experienced educators on curriculum design and facilitation of early childhood and family programs, as well as the implementation of engagement efforts for immigrant and Latino audiences.

Created in 1993 to further FCA's mission to encourage, sponsor, and promote the work of a contemporary, experimental nature, Emergency Grants provide urgent funding for visual and performing artists who: Have sudden, unanticipated opportunities to present their work to the public when there is insufficient time to seek other sources of funding or incur unexpected or unbudgeted expenses for projects close to completion with committed exhibition or performance dates.

+ BIMA Artist’s Book Residency Grant for Indigenous Artists - Women's Studio Workshop

The Bainbridge Island Museum of Art Artist’s Book Residency Grant for Indigenous Artists is a ten week residency for North American Indigenous artists to produce a limited edition book work. Working intensively in our studios, artists print and bind their own books, and are encouraged to create an edition size no larger than 100 and no smaller than 50.

The grant includes a stipend of $350/week, up to $1000 for materials, full travel reimbursement, free onsite housing, and 24/7 studio access. WSW provides technical advice; training on new equipment, techniques, and materials; and production assistance. The contract stipulates that 20% of the edition goes to WSW’s archive, exhibition, and display copies; 20% of the edition goes to the artist; and 60% of the edition goes to general sales. WSW has developed a series of archive and exhibition opportunities for our artists’ books, and artists can collaborate with WSW on marketing for a 50% commission fee.
