What happens when art and wine come together? At Millbrook Vineyards & Winery, the answer is a celebration of creativity, community, and the opportunity for a local artist’s work to become part of something enjoyed well beyond the gallery walls. On Sunday, November 15, Arts Mid-Hudson and Millbrook Vineyards & Winery invite the community to raise a glass at the closing celebration of Art in the Loft, an annual exhibition that brings together Hudson Valley artists and wine enthusiasts in a setting where visual art and winemaking meet.
Starting at 2:00 p.m., guests will gather in the winery’s Loft to celebrate the 16 participating artists and discover which artwork has been selected to appear on an exclusive Millbrook Vineyards & Winery wine label. Throughout the exhibition, visitors have had the opportunity to experience the work of local artists while participating in the selection of the winning piece. It’s a creative partnership that gives artists a platform to share their work with new audiences and offers the public a chance to play a role in what happens next.
And what happens next is part of the fun. For the artist whose work is selected, a piece originally created for an exhibition will take on an entirely new life. Instead of being experienced only on a gallery wall, it will become part of a wine label, traveling into homes, appearing on dinner tables, and perhaps even becoming a keepsake from a special occasion.
While the winning artwork will be the afternoon’s big reveal, the closing event is about more than selecting a single piece. Each participating artist will give a short talk, sharing their background, the inspiration behind their creative practice, and the work they contributed to the exhibition. These personal insights offer guests a chance to hear the stories behind the artwork, gain a deeper appreciation for the creative process, and connect directly with the artists. It’s an opportunity to recognize all 16 artists and celebrate their contributions to the region’s creative community.
Guests can mingle with participating artists, enjoy hors d’oeuvres, live music, desserts, and sample selections from Millbrook Vineyards & Winery, all while surrounded by the artwork that made this year’s exhibition possible. The event also highlights the value of partnerships between arts organizations and local businesses. By bringing visual art into an unexpected setting, Art in the Loft creates new opportunities for people to discover regional artists while supporting Arts Mid-Hudson’s work to strengthen and promote the arts throughout the Mid-Hudson Valley.
Tickets for the November 15 celebration are $80 per person, with $60 of each ticket tax-deductible. Space is limited, and advance reservations are encouraged. Please note that the Loft is accessible by stairs only and is not ADA-compliant.
Whether you come for the artwork, the wine, or the chance to celebrate the people who make our region so creative, Art in the Loft offers a wonderful reason to gather. After all, good art, like good wine, is even better when shared.
